so some of my lovely work mates have taken 1 packet of fruit pastels & a bottle of lucozade out of my hypo supplies

last time they took my biscuits

does anyone else have this problem? i'm getting pig sick of this now

Report it formally - it is theft, however small the monetary value and there are serious potential consequences. If you don't go through the formal process, the company and thieving colleague will never take it seriously.

....you should pee in a bottle of lucozade and put it in your locker....love to see their faces!

report it. I know the monetary value is low, but it is there for medical reasons. If you have a hypo and stuff is not where you want it when you need it, it could be serious. Although it is still theft the person who took it needs to be made awre of the potential consequences.

I've complained (again) I complain everytime someone does it.

Nothing ever happens so next time I have nothing, I won't treat my hypo & they can phone for an ambulance & explain why I ended up in that state!

Phil I like your thinking

I would report it. It's not acceptable to take something that isn't yours, and it could have serious consequences for you - people need to take that seriously and not just think 'it's just a few sweets' :(

Hmm what lovely trustworthy collegues you work with NOT, im liking Phils suggestion alot lol, there being extremely selfish if nothing else you need those supplies incase of a hypo fgs!

I agree that you should report the matter as the potential consequences are dire. Something you can do in addition, is get a storage box big enough to put your supplies in, that's what I did at work and made sure everyone knew what the stuff in it was for. It stopped folk knicking my jelly babies.

filling a bottle with someting else works. I used to work with someone who kept taking lemonade if it belonged to other people so thy got a bottle of salty water.

I had a problem with folk taking my injections out of the fridge and leaving them in the warm kitchen.
These were unopened so had to be in the fridge.
I complained on the second time as the problem was I didn't know how long they had been left out - I now have a desk fridge with lock in my office.

Could you find some way of locking them away - and maybe email everyone to explain the importance of them not being taken?

You shouldn't have to but seems to be the norm nowadays unfortunately.

The boys that I work with are thieving little sods too.
They don't do it since I had a hypo Infront if them though and my husband screamed at them because they had eaten my sweets.

I'm lucky that my husband works with me. But 2particular lads will still nick my stuff

I've asked for the keys to my desk draws which aren't forthcoming so have said I want a locked box - I won't hold my breath as I've been complaining for a year now. I wouldn't mind if they admitted it to me but it's out of order

A friend had the same problem with his sandwiches going missing so instead of jam he used swarfega:D

Me I would use something nasty to doctor the things, like maybe findin a way of getting ink around the rim of the bottle so the thief identies themselves lol. This may get you in more trouble than them though so be careful.

The only sensible suggestion I can think of is finding or even buying if you boss won't a lockable cabinet.

If you want to take the key situation by the scruff of the neck, make a note of the lock number (it's very small, and stamped on the round bit of metal surrounding the keyhole). Have a look inside the top drawer to see if there's a manufacturer label (but it's not a serious problem if there isn't one). Take the key number to a local locksmith and they will order you a replacement. Expect to pay about ?10. Claim it back!

Ought to be a disciplinary offence putting your colleague's health and safety at risk 😡

Hope u get some ressolve x

I keep all hypo resolve on my person, or in my bag, which sits at my feet........

Shocking behavior though, must make working with these people quite difficult.....😡

Are you in a union? They might be able to kick your boss up the rear for not helping & expedite a key / lockable box...or try HR maybe? Alternatively you should have a qualified first aider - what about leaving some stuff with them & kind of making it their problem to keep it secure - at least if it's in a proper first aid box no one can claim to be moron enough not to know that it's not free for all.

Personally I love the alternate filling idea - maybe adding something unpalatable but relatively harmless to the lucozade like a squirt of washing up liquid or castor oil?? I wonder if you can buy bitrex too?? 😉

You're right though, whoever is doing this is a selfish theiving ar****** & if I was your boss I'd be keen to find out who it was as I wouldn't want that kind of person working for me!!! 😡

What a bad lot.

I had a period when my yogurts went missing from the fridge.

I sent a general E-Mail around the office saying I hoped they enjoyed it as due to medical reasons it had laxative in it.

Never went missing again. I know it is a pain but could you buy your own small lockable box a large money box would do & give a key to your manager or close work colleague that in event of an emergency! Or just keep it on your person or is that not a possibility.

How about another complaint but if no progress, say you will contact the senior person/director etc; may prompt the person you complain to to take you seriously or you will go above their heads; not easy at end of day but your B**** of a colleague is putting your health at risk.

Hope something is sorted quickly.

I know you shouldn't have to but maybe you could keep the sweets in your handbag/purse?
