today was the day!!!

results!!!

they were bad. although my liver and kidneys are perfectly normal.

so..... after much 'fighting' over the last 18 or so months...... my DSN has put me on metformin :(

so what do I have to look forward to????

wind??? loose bowels??? metalic taste???

Good news about the liver and kidneys 🙂 Sorry to hear about the metformin, but after the time you have had it's hardly surprising that your blood sugar control has been difficult to keep under tight control. I can't offer any insights into metformin reactions, although it does sound as though you know what to look out for - hopefully, you will be one of the lucky ones and get on fine with it. Remember there is the slow-release version if the ordinary causes you too much discomfort.

Hi macast....well what dose of metformin are you on? i am on 1000mg, it does play havic with your body but everyone has different side effects, from what i gather the most common is belly ache or feeling sick, for me it is a bit of both but as my dn says i will get used to it..i hope so because i now fart enough to blow up a air balloon😛 end of the day if you need the tabs it's better than complications? isn't it? i was the same now just take them cos in the long run i HOPE it will pay off, keep us up to date how they are effecting you 🙂

Great news on your liver & kidney tests.

Hopefully you won't have too much trouble on the metformin.

I take 2 a day (1000 total). I found I had a slight bellyache on the first morning when I woke up after taking the first the night before; and this didn't get any worse when I took the next.

Within a couple of days all was well. I did have the metallic taste on occasion but don't now.

I did for a few months have to take 4 tabs a day & this did leave me needing the loo a bit; but again it settled. Thankfully suger levels down & back onto 2 a day.

Mind you I have my HBA!c blood test next Monday so we'll see when the results are in. As I'm high in the morning it wouldn't surprise me to find they have crept up a bit.

If you find you react badly to the metformin for more than say a week go back to yopur GP as they can prescribe the slow release version which is knder on the stomach.

Take care Lynne
