I am a person who watches very little television, thinking that sitting in front of the goggle box is basically wasting your life. Recently though, I have acquired a mild addiction, just forty minutes a day, to a BBC show called 'The Repair Shop'. The show is basically about restoring antiques and features a cast of specialist antique restorers who work on a wide variety of objects that are brought in by members of the public. In order to qualify for their expert attention, the object has to be accompanied by a deep human interest story. The combination of the background stories, the amazing variety of the artifacts and the unbelievable skills of the restorers makes utterly compelling viewing.
