A thoroughly up-to-date wifi network running through our hospitals must be part of Jeremy Hunt's paperless NHS plans, writes Sean Larner of Xirrus.

A few days ago, and in these very pages, Dell's Marc Stein gave some thoughtful and informative opinions about the software needed to realise Jeremy Hunt's vision of a paperless NHS. Yet software - and I'm sure Mr Stein will be the first to agree with me - can only be one part of the technology mix that will enable a more connected health service. As important, in my view, is providing doctors, nurses and other staff with the connectivity they need to access these applications and services, wherever they are in the hospital. For that, you need a thoroughly up-to-date Wi-Fi network.
