DIABETES is one of the biggest health challenges we face today, with 3.7 million people with the condition and 7 million people at high risk.
Yet a new report issued by the National Audit Office has found that many people with diabetes are not getting the basic checks and services they need to manage the condition.
This is unacceptable because it puts them at great risk of serious complications such as blindness and amputations.
As someone with family members with diabetes, I know all too well the devastation the condition can cause and I am passionate about improving diabetes services both locally and nationally.
Many people in East Yorkshire with the condition are being let down by the differences in the quality of diabetes care in the area.
