The Muppets Christmas Carol.

At our house it has become a Christmas tradition to watch the Muppets Christmas Carol on Xmas Eve. It is widely accepted that this is one of the best of the numerous film adaptations of the story. What I find really surprising is that other adaptations have actually been ruined for me by the Muppets' version just being so much better. I also find it surprising that, after literally hundreds of film adaptations, this was the first one that included Dickens as a character who narrated the story. This movie survives repeated viewings because it contains thousands of tiny details that can spot even though you have seen it so many times before.

One of the only Christmas films I like TBH (apart from Die Hard!)

It's a part of family consciousness here. We regularly quote it at each other.

When it's warm, someone will inevitably shout "Heatwave ... this is my island in the sun" and if we light a candle someone has to shout "Light the lamp, not the rat"

Just brilliant!

Completely agreed, I'd not watched it for many years but sat with my youngest on Christmas eve morning and watched it - wonderful on all counts.

P.S. We also at least started to watch Die Hard on Xmas Eve, will have to finish that this weekend! 🙂

I watched “a Christmas horror story” last night. Interesting twist at the end. Reminded me of Twilight zone? Had William Shatner in it.

I watch this as well, but also like the version with Albert Finney.

I also watch The Amazing Mr Blunden as well. The original, not the recent remake.
