For those who wear the same disposable mask for days, it is important to know that they may be protecting themselves from covid-19 coronavirus more effectively than if they were not wearing it, but they may not suspect that the problem they are facing is growing in the mask itself, in the form of bacterial culture.

Eww yuck. :(

I suspect the veracity of this story; it was posted by what appears to be a manufacturer of healthcare products, hardly an impartial source. Also, 4 hours is the standard length of a renal dialysis session, and patients are required to wear their mask from the moment they board the transport to the moment they get home, which can easily be 5 or 6 hours -- for people who live near the hospital, as I do. The staff wear their masks all day.

This does not surprise me. An article I read about flying and the need to wear a mask through the airport, on the plane and through the destination airport, mentioned that you need to bring enough masks to change them every 4 hours. The reason being if you breath on it for that long, it will get damp and its ability to contain the virus will be significantly reduced.
The same is true for disposable and reusable masks but reusable ones can be washed, dried out and used again.
