just watched the magic pill on Netflix. What a brilliant film I’ve just learned so much about LCHF and how it helps control my diabetes. I always thought that grains and pasta, rice were better for us. Even today most of the daily dietary recommendations are so wrong.

Not seen that, but it sounds very interesting.

Just be careful if dramatically reducing carb intake while you are still using insulin 🙂

I'll have to have a look at that one. Sounds interesting.

Highly recommended this needs to be compulsory in schools

Learned my lesson going to see about coming of insulin tomorrow I’m controlling my evening meals without and if I’m able and willing to cut carbs to almost 0 the insulin is just going to keep pushing my BGL too low. Fingers crossed I’ll be allowed to try for a while.

We don't have Netflix either. Our internet is too slow. Wouldn't it be great if the nutritional guidelines were changed? Sadly, not going to happen anytime soon. Certainly not while the big carb producing companies are controlling it!

It was part of the program South Africa’s diet has changed to include maze as a staple part of it but new studies are showing than LCHF is our natural diet not today’s high carb diet. They want to change recommended diet guidelines but Kellogg and other high powered companies that deal in low fat wheat is good for us are fighting it all the way. They don’t care about what it’s doing to us just there profits it’s all ££££.

We watched something on BBC about poverty in america. It was shocking. Some people live 100s of miles from a shop with fresh foods, and only have access to carb and sugary packed foods. Something like 2% funding goes into fruit/veg producers, about 20 to meat and dairy and the rest to grains, corn wheat and so on, so the larger companies producing the worse stuff get all the benefits. Ill try to find what it was called.

I watched this after reading this post. It was fairly good, if not a little preachy. I think they could have gone a little more into the specifics of what the people were actually eating but the idea is sound and hopefully one that will help some people think twice about what they eat.

I still have a mild scepticism about some of the things it claimed to help. But the fact is diet can have drastic changes to health in a short space of time.

My wife pointed me towards something on Loose Women the other day. They were talking about diet and diabetes being reversed easily with lower calorie intake, carbs weren't mentioned I don't think (rolls eyes). They all tested their bloods too. All fine expect Coleen Nolan who was pre-diabetic. She looked well shook up bless her.

Wow! We just finished watching this last night (free on YouTube) Very powerful message. At the end my non diabetic husband turned to me and said I am not eating these anymore, sugary mini cheesecakes. He already eats mainly what I eat, he prefers cauliflower rice to "normal" rice, loves burgen bread, and fathead pizzas. Hopefully these changes in his diet will prevent him ever developing diabetes, as they have helped me bring my BG levels down.

Very interesting about grain, seems we just don't need it. The change in the little autistic girl was miraculous. And the prosecution of Prof. Tim Noakes ... unbelievable, but big business have got a lot to lose if they ever update the good eating guidelines.

Watch it if you can, you will be glad you did.

Thanks for the heads up Spireite ( sorry about your team BTW )
Watched it the other day, definitely worth a watch, very interesting some of the studies.

Mick.

Well lets hope she goes for a test.

Big business is everywhere Jean...you'd be amazed at what some of the huge companies sponsor.

Spiriette you don't need to cut out carbs to that degree...just monitor what the content is in what you buy & eat...thankfully the nutritional contents are labelled clearly on most packaging.
