Forgot the graph cos I’m an idiot 1C356996-3FA0-4338-ADFF-1D5DAAE86462.png

Well this is ridiculous. The only carbs I’ve had today is 2x slices of wholemeal toast at 15g carbs each. One at breakfast with peanut butter, at 8am, one at lunch with scrambled egg at 12pm. 4 units Humulin I at 8am, been drinking loads and as active as I can be and I’m now 10.4, having gone up from 8.2 at lunch.

Someone please nag me to nag nursie on Tuesday, this is just stupid.

Madeline, you don’t need to be nagged but if I lived near you, I’d come with you Tuesday and have a few well chosen words in her shell like .

Some yrs ago I was put on a Basal insulin (insulatard) , was still on Gliclazide but was also given Novorapid to inject if my BG went to 15, which it did very often ,so at least I had the right stuff to deal with high BG s, which you haven’t. Very soon I went into MDI and hopefully you will be soon.

Thank you so much, that’s such a nice thing to say! Zero chance of a face to face, it’s all over the phone, but much easier to be firm though. I’m going to wheel out @leonS line and ask what exactly they think they’re treating seeing as I’m only on insulin because no oral meds have actually worked, or why they think someone is Type 2 when there’s zero history of it in the family, but I have a Type 1 parent and an autoimmune disease. Bonkers (current favourite word).

Well the DSN rang back, was very short and basically said I was fine on the 4 units twice a day, and she was not going to add in fast acting for meals.

I asked for tests to be done, pointed out that I had a late onset Type 1 parent, zero family history of Type 2, and was unresponsive to oral meds. Point blank no, and she ‘cannot understand why I can’t just accept what I’m told’. Well that’ll be because I don’t agree with what I’m being told.

Going to ring GP on Monday and request to be referred elsewhere. I have no faith in her or Dr Mumbles. Meanwhile I’d had 15g carbs and 4 units at 8am, 28g at 12pm, then 2 digestive biscuits (stupid stupid me) when I had my second 4 units at 4pm. Tested myself at 6pm for dinner, and I was 11.8mmols.

You can ask for a second opinion, but you have no right to demand one. This is I assume what you intend to do. NHS say it should not normally be refused.

OR you can change your GP. You do not have to get the agreenent of the old GP just that of the new one.

Thanks @leonS, GP is pretty good, can’t see him refusing tbh. Fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear you are banging your head against a brick wall with your nurse @Madeline

@Becka has recently been going through something similar I think :(

Thanks Mike @everydayupsanddowns, some of them seem to have missed any medical updates since they first staggered off the ark.
