been a bit rough last few days Last night my bs shoot up to HI and i used my last keytone strip showed low levels spent the night with my head over a bowl (to much info there) saw gp this morning bs now 28(never thought i would be glad to see a reading of that level he didt test my keytones gave me prescription for strips and Buccal an anti sickness med asked me if i was feeling unwell told him had been coughing a bit
Question when should i be worried about the keytone levels ans at wot level should i worry at present they are about 2nd one along on container Am testing bs every hour keytones every 2-3 hours is this to much

I think monitoring for ketones is fine at those intervals, not being on a quick acting insulin means you wont be able to inject to process the ketones......

usually if there is a trace of them you dont need to worry, any more and I wouldn't say you need to worry either, just as long as they get processed in good time.....

Hope your feeling a bit better.

I'm type 2 too and have never tested keytones. I have heard of people doing it and asked the diabetic nurse at our surgery about a year ago if I should be testing them. She said no :(

I'm with the diabetic doctor on Thursday and will ask again. I'm on insulin too and every now and again have really high levels. Afterwards I feel really sick so it's worth asking.
