The 'i' paper is doing and extensive report on the NHS this week, well worth the 50p a day 🙂

As part of the Johnston Press investigation into the future of the health service, 44 regional blueprints drawn up by health service leaders to remodel the NHS in England have been analysed. Until December, these blueprints for far-reaching reform were carefully kept under wraps and even now far fewer know about them than should. If you think the title of these documents is less than mouthwatering, try the contents themselves. Even by the jargon-riddled standards of most reports produced to analyse the structure and goals of large organisations, some of the STPs should be rightly accused of setting new standards of impenetrability. But the future of the NHS is of course too important to be shrouded for long in the obfuscatory language of “affordability challenges” and “risk stratifications”. It has revealed the extent of the cuts and drastic changes in the delivery of care to plug the £22bn black hole in funding.

And we think things are bad now.

How do you reduce emergency admissions by 30%?

I can't work that one out, unless you have to do MORE for them in A&E - so if you come in with a broken leg after an RTA that needs pinning you don't admit them there and then to have it done next day - you send them home to await their appointment for their planned admission. The fact that you made it worse yourself by having to negotiate the steps to get back in the house and go to the loo etc whilst at home, ain't the NHS's problem or fault. Clearly.

Or, just sending you home to die perhaps if it's say, just a stroke or cardiac arrest?
