The Covid vaccines mean we can start living again – in Britain, at least

I suspect that like many older people or those with underlying health conditions, we will continue to be cautious. For example I never go out without my mask, and I see many older people in my village also wear theirs all the time. I automatically turn away from people without masks, and give them a very wide berth. But I've started to go into supermarkets in the last couple of weeks, usually around 5.30pm when they are less busy. And I resumed my swimming pool Aqua classes in July. We've been out for meals a few times, where it was possible to sit outside. So I am trying to get back to a more normal way of life, and my much postponed holiday is set for September 2022.

We've so far had 2 separate weeks away in our Moho, and going again (all different places) very soon, plus have a week at Aug BH booked and another in the middle of September. Last one was in a touristy place in Devon - so got to see the sea at least even though we never got to have a paddle LOL whereas the majority of others are all in the middle of (different) nowhere(s) inland. We did meet people we know last time, but were all quite happy to socially distance without any awkwardness.

Always wearing masks when inside shops, even ate 'in' at one seaside place - and that was more than adequately distanced too - and we've so far found the same at home, even having a masked chat & joke with the lady we were queuing behind at the till in Tescos. I commented I was amazed that we happened o be standing adjacent to mens clothing, OH said Tescos don't sell anything for ladies, I said I was going to check - didn't actually see anything I couldn't live without so came back (we hadn't moved much) and announced 'You were right luv, they don't!' whilst winking at the other lady, and we all laughed. It is getting back to normal!
