Got carted off to hospital at the weekend. What, again? Yup, again, I'm thinking of getting a season ticket. It wasn't the diabetes for once although that did get in on the act with a minor hypo. No, it was my blood pressure which dropped like a stone when I got up to put the kettle on and I flaked out briefly, came to in the ambulance very confused and was hauled off to A&E. It's the Addison's playing up they told me as they took what little blood I had left. I've had the necessary fed in intravenously and my normal dose of HC upped a bit. I also have to check in at the surgery every morning before work so they can check things are getting back to normal. All in all, a minor crisis, but flipping scary. I feel fine now, just a bit tired.

Oh my dear friend, so sorry to hear this :( You really do go through the wars don't you? I hope that you recover well, and quickly, and that's the last bad fortune to strike you for a very long time (well, I hope it's the bad last thing, full stop!).

Take care and rest, and get your strength back {{{{Ally}}}}

What a nightmare, Alison! At one point last year the docs thought I might have Addison's & when I read into it it sounded like a right pain in the bum! I hope you're feeling much better now & the new levels of HC work better for you. Take it easy! Xxx

Sorry to hear of your troubles. How scary for you. Hope you feel much better soon.

Hi Ally,
sorry that has happened to you 😱
Do you take the tablet Fludroctisone (florinef)? This is the one Addisonians take to regulate blood pressure.
It took ages before I was ever given any and that was only because i made a sarcastic comment to my GP about my low bp and sun tan. He hadn't realised I hadn't been given any at diagnoses. Once on it my life changed dramatically for the better.
Hope you feel better soon.

If my BP stays down they have said I'll need something but it probably won't be that because of the family history of glaucoma. Apparently florinef can cause that as a side effect. However, my BP seems to be on it's way up again, and they're keeping a very close eye on me for now.

Hi Ally All steroids can cause glaucoma, HC is the worst culprit. You will never be able to take enough steroid (HC) to mimic the action of florinef
Florinef works in a dif way than HC and Pred though. doses used are minimal as in 100mcg at a time. Florinef stops salt loss, which causes low bp.
