I started work at 5am this morning and when my manager arrived at 7.30 sent myself and another colleague home as we're both diabetics. A couple of hours later I got a message to ring my manager. He'd been on a conference call and as the guidance had changed I had to get advice from GP about if I should be in work.
I messaged my surgery and the reply states that even though I would get a severe illness if I caught Covid-19, I did not fall into the most vulnerable category and did not need to self isolate for 3 months but I am to be more stringent with social distancing. And possibly change my duties.
How I can social distance myself whilst working in a supermarket I am yet to discover!!! Maybe wear a sign saying keep back 2m.

Stay safe @Anitram , hopefully all this will blow over soon.

Why not just tell your boss the doctor said you were in the at risk group? Save yourself if the system won't.

...but working a checkout or being on self-service checkout duty means it's difficult to do social distancing.
I wonder how many stores will reduce staff around tills, inc self service. Allow people to just get on with it using self service?

I'm not one for dishonesty though.

Some supermarkets are setting up screens at the tills and the contactless limit is to be raised at the end of the month, so they are trying to make changes to help.
