Thank you everyone for the lovely messages on my glaucoma thread and seven day waking average. I'm sorry that I haven't replied to them individually. I'm slowly picking myself up and received an email today which looks like I've got my place on MA Education 🙂 Due to my health I won't ever go back into lecturing but I thought that the MA would get me out of the house and using my brain again. As it is a part-time course designed primarily for teachers it hopefully won't be as draining as me trying to study English with my dodgy eyes. If all goes to plan I will start the Masters at the beginning of May.
Good news & keep at it AJ 😎

Thank you everyone. I spoke to the MA Education course leader yesterday and although I've been offered the place it isn't suitable for me. Oh well I will have to get my thinking hat on again.

Oh no that is a shame.

I don't believe it Aj - sorry your hopes have been dashed. Stay strong - don't give up, success may be just around the next corner x

Just seen your post Amanda. Oh no I'm so sorry. But knowing your determination I'm sure you'll come up with another idea.

Here's hoping for another course suitable for you. Did tutor offer any suggestions?

Thank you Grovesy, Wirralass, Lindarose and Carol. The tutor didn't make other suggestions but maybe it's time to end my qualifications journey. I have rather collected them over the years 🙂 lots of other things to do with my limited energy - including reading, cooking, my vegetable garden and crafting and maybe even writing the novels that I've planned 🙂 maybe at 48 I need to full embrace retirement after fighting it for nearly five years 🙂

I am sure your road is well mapped out and when 1 road closes thre will be another one along the way.my planned retirement is in 3 1/2 years and I feel at moment very agrieved that I have to work till 66.

Hi @Aj. Can you visualise yourself on a warm sunny day, sitting near your vegetable garden with the fragrance of herbs delicately drifting towards your nostrils -- whilst you pen the novels you so eagerly have yearned to write over the years but busy schedules & life's needs precluded you the pleasure?

Or - on rainy days with the rain droplets trickling effortlessly down the window panes whilst you sit in the comfort of your favourite snuggy chair by a warm glowing fire, reading books, magazines or looking at lovingly kept photographs reminiscent of years gone by - or crafting something you put aside last year - while you enjoy a cuppa or - a tipple!

Or - listening to your favourite music, old & new, whilst in the kitchen preparing meals for the day..or the next, with your home grown vegetables?

You have posted more than 10K messages on here so far - that has to be something of which to be proud - and I hope there will plenty more to add to that - you most certainly have made a huge contribution to the forum & I'd like to thank you personally for all the words of encouragement, help & tips you have sent my way in the short time I have been here.

Whatever comes your way Amanda - whichever path you choose to take from here on in - I would like to wish you all the very best in the future & trust that you stay as well as you can for a long time to come. You take good care of yourself now. lv J.x

What i always take from you is your positive attitude to your health problems and your will and energy to get on and enjoy life (and wine!). I have no doubt you will find lots of amazing things to inspire you and i shall enjoy reading about them 🙂

Thank you so much Carol, Wirralass and Stephknits for your absolutely lovely comments.
Carol I would prefer not to be retired but really feel for you that you have to wait for retirement.
Wirralass I read your post this morning and it made me feel so good and boosted me about how lucky I am with the life that I have.
Steph lol goodness knows how many FB posts you've seen of me with wine as well as when we've met 🙂
Well there is some more positive news. I joined a ten week Oxford Uni online creative writing course at the beginning of the year. I've really enjoyed what I've done with it but, due to everything else going on, I haven't engaged with it as much as I should. However I was determined to submit the first assignment which is the first 600 words of one of my planned books. I've just received this feedback from the tutor! "This is an intriguing piece of writing, which draws the readers in. You are presenting a specific character in a specific situation, which is exactly what is needed in the opening section of a novel. I was interestedabout Dom and I wanted to know how and why the Abbey meant so much to him."

Sorry I sounded mumpy about waiting to retire. I know I am lucky to have a fulfilling job and the good enough health to work. Just tired after viruses and changes going on in the workplace.
Your feedback was absolutely fantastic so well done. I agree with the others, your posts are always thoughtful and kind, so thanks. Carol

Carol please don't apologise. You weren't mumpy. It must be very frustrating having to wait for retirement when the retirement age has been raised so much. Big hugs for you having to deal with those horrible viruses and changes at work. I'm the mumpy for not always appreciating what I have. Thank you for your lovely feedback xx

Thanks Amanda. Never seen you posting mumpy stuff at all. Good luck and keep strong
