just wanted to say a thank you to you all for the support and encouragement when I was diagnosed two and a half weeks back. I've been an avid lurker trying to take in as much as I can and it seems to be paying off. My BG readings are consistently in the 7s already and I'm able to keep the rises after food low most of the time.

Found out I shouldn't eat weetabix! A single weetabix caused by BG to rise from 7.2 to 12.4! Lesson learned there.

So good to hear you are doing well but a shame about the Weetabix. If it is any consolation, it would do that to my levels too. You have obviously embraced the concept of test, adjust and review to figure out what works and sadly what doesn't. Hope you have discovered some new and interesting foods that you enjoy and don't cause your BG to rise.

The diet is different now but that's ok, I am learning what works. No breakfast cereal now and bananas are completely off limits too, but a good old Granny Smith apple is ok.

Some really good recipes on here so eaten lots of new things already.

I am quite surprised that someone on a Keto diet would eat Weetabix for breakfast!
Nutritional info says it is 69g carbs per100g which is quite high and 4% sugar although a single biscuit is only 13g carbs... they must be mostly air (The info online suggests 2 biscuits as a serving which contains 26g carbs, so just 13g for one which isn't too bad).

Well done Marc. I am glad that things are working for you.

I used to love weetabix. Like you they are off limits for me now.
As you say we each have to find what works for us.

Oh I’d love a weetabix but I’m also in that club!
Sounds like you are doing great Mark. Keep it up!

I remember having weetabix in hospital after giving birth - there was nothing else. That was in the 1980s - I have not bothered to try them again.

Bit of a result Martin. Maybe I should try cream instead of milk!
Try it and see, if Weetabix is something you want to keep eating!
My standard breakfast is porridge, made from 30g oats, with berries, chopped pecans, ground flaxseeds, double cream plus full fat milk. This is just about OK for me. If I leave out the nuts, seeds and cream, the oats (same amount), berries and milk give me far too great a rise.

On the other hand, you may have discovered/will discover an alternative breakfast that works for you, and you prefer to Weetabix.

Hospital breakfasts are no better now. It’s a choice of cereal, cereal, porridge (except it’s rocket fuel ready brek), or toast. And you can’t order anything else in either.

Daren't buy Weetabix, even I draw the line at them! 🙂
