Thank you, work and holidays

1. Do many people still work on here/ are you retired? How does your work effect your insulin doses or, if you are retired, how does being retired differ in doses for you? - I work in an office environment so I usually don't have to adjust doses too much unless it is really hot as they don't have air-con currently.

I have a number of part time roles which mesh together, and (mostly!) cooperate in sharing my time. I’ve been running my own business for a lot of years, but after my wide died there was a necessary rejig, I took on some of her work, and a couple of other things (including becoming a staff member here) sort of slotted into place. I work largely from home, which probably helps diabetes-wise. And I don’t have a stressful commute or anything to accommodate.

2. Does everybody/anybody get anxiety when going abroad on holiday? It's something that I am working on in general. But does anybody else panic in relation to local hospital locations, native language and being away from home (in the UK)?

I think travel is always a combination of exciting and anxiety-inducing! I’m not a massive traveller abroad, but I’ve been on a few international trips (including diabetes conferences) mostly in Europe.

I did once run out of insulin in France (oops!) but managed to get restocked even with my rudimentary French.

Plus I learned always to take at least DOUBLE what I think I might need in terms of supplies. Much easier to just bring it all back, than have to attempt to get some over there!
