I left a rather panicked message on my DSN's phone at lunchtime because I'd gone back down to 4.0. I still haven't had any bolus since last night. She phoned me a while ago and although BG has now gone up to 6.6 she thinks that What is happening is "worrying" and has advised me to reduce my basal to 70% - she would prefer me to be around 10/11 than fall again. I will see her at 11am tomorrow - just tested and it has started dropping again

Sounds like good advice, hope you can get to the bottom of it soon.

Thankyou Redkite

Very puzzling  I hope that the reduction in basals does the trick and that you can get to the bottom of it with the DSN's help. I hope you have a peaceful and uneventful night's sleep.

Thank you Northener. I have to say that I am as puzzled as puzzled can be.

Hope you have a peaceful night free from hypo's and they can find out what's going on for you. 🙂 🙂

Thanks Pav and I hope that you are able to sort things out with your nurse tomorrow

Thanks AJ but not holding by breath, now given up on the docs abilities to do anything right for people with diabetes.

The nurses recently have been great, this appointment will be with a new nurse so will give her the benefit of doubt for the moment.

Thanks Karen. I went on to the 70% TBR 3.5 hours ago but BG has dropped to 5.4:(. Thank goodness that the DSN suggested the TBR reduction

Now down to 4.9 and dropping. I've had to disconnect the pump for an hour. This is not fun

Def not fun, looks like you will need to eat some thing to try and stop a overnight hypo.

Goodness! What's going on, have you nicked a working pancreas off someone? Curiouser and curiouser as Alice might say! Sounds like you may have to set a few alarms through the night - hope the DSN has had some experience of this before and some suggestions for you Amanda, take care.

Thanks Pav and Northerner. Eating something else won't help me because of the gastroparesis hence why disconnecting the pump is the only option now. I just want to go to sleep. I am just so hoping that it is something simple and not Addison's disease, but I am getting very scared. I'm due to have an eye injection on Monday but I can only cope with so much at once. Ironically stress usually puts my BGs up

Hi Amanda,

If you cant eat - could you have some lucozade instead? Sorry if a silly question I dont know a lot about your condition. I would be careful about keeping pump off though - perhaps you could connect and put on a 20% or something just for the basal?🙂Bev

Thanks Bev the DSN said to disconnect if the BG keeps going down. My plan is just to keep it off for a maximum of an hour - but I've now gone down to 4.6 - although not hypo what's worrying is that it keeps going down especially with the 70% TBR and I only had 3 units up front for a 90g carb meal - the rest is multiwave.. Lucozade doesn't work any better than jelly babies, but thank you for asking. In desperation, I'm now going to try some 3 jelly babies.

Hi AJ...do you have anything like boiled sweets in the house? Thinking maybe you could hold one in your mouth (in your cheek) & absorb the sugar that way, (similar approach to the paramedic squirt & slap routine with glucogel but less grim!!)? I'm guessing it's the gastric emptying that's the problem with normal hypo treatments?

((((hugs)))), sounds like you're going through the mill!! :(

Thanks Twitchy. Unfortunately I haven't got any boiled sweets - but it was a great suggestion. Even glucogel doesn't work when my tummy is full. This isn't a normal gastroparesis BG falling - I had a similar meal with similar insulin yesterday and it went up before bed! It's just that the gastro will probably stop me from absorbing anythign extra but I live in hope so I tried the jelly babies a few minutes ago - hopefully they will work together with the pump disconnection. As soon as I reach 5.5 or above I'm reconnecting and going back to bed - with alarms set for midnight and 3 am. Thank you for thinking about me xx

Megga expletives - I don't believe it I've just tested again and now I'm 4.1 - this is turning into a nightmare

Hooray 5.2 I'm going to bed. Goodnight everyone
