Has anyone else had a text from gov.uk informing that new rules apply and to stay at home ? I haven’t received a letter from nhs saying I’m to be shielded and there is nothing in text mentioning me personally. I’m 53 T1 and well controlled but feeling so anxious as I’m sharing my house with 2 key workers - my husband and son - both dairy farmers so they cannot just shut the farm - although I’ve managed to separate myself from them - they have own bathroom and bedrooms and mini kitchen - I'm living in a different part of the house . I’m still cooking for them so technically I’ve more than socially distanced myself from them! But cannot help but feel worried and anxious !

All mobile networks have sent texts to their customers on behalf of UK gov, drawing attention to the new lockdown rules announced in the Broadcast at 8,30pm last night, details here. This has nothing to do with the texts that some people with very severe health conditions (such as cancer or transplants) have received.

Yes I think if you get the one telling you to self isolate for 12 weeks it will come from the NHS not the government.

I got a text saying "Stay At Home!" I think it was a mass message.

Hi Teddy.
My partner works on a farm and as far as I can see they are probably at the lowest risk of all key workers as there is little close contact with other people. Farms are dangerous places, but when it comes to Corona virus, probably much less so than living in the towns and cities.
As a well controlled Type 1 you are at no more risk than anyone else, but do be familiar with "sick day rules" regarding testing for ketones and increasing fluid intake and insulin should you get sick. These issues are important to minimize the risk of complications should you get the virus or any other illness that might escalate into requiring NHS help if not properly managed. I think "Sick day rules" have been posted elsewhere on the site but ask if you need them.

it is the mass message .

Yes, I got that one. As far as I understand it the mobile networks agreed to send it. (The government ought to have the power to do it as other governments do, but they never got their act together. A Guardian story suggested there was disagreement about which department would pay for it.)

I got it too. It is just reinforcing BoJo’s message from last night to everyone.
If you need to stay isolated you would get a letter from the NHS.

I have had 2 texts but 1 was from Government, the other was to tell me the Surgery Doors are now closed but if I get asked to attend the surgery by a clinician, I will be told how to get access to the premises.

Thank you so much for your reassurance. I guess you are right in the grand scheme of things, we only have one other worker coming to the farm daily but my son contracts and works on another farm and at 20 I’m not sure is abiding by hand washing and social distancing etc, but the risk is minimal which I’ve got to try and remember!! Thanks again

@Teddy I understand your concerns although I am a well controlled type 2 but also asthmatic, I live with 2 key workers, one in the food supply chain, the other works in keeping supermarket lorry's on the road, (he actually works with supplying and fitting their tyres, and most major supermarkets all use the company he works for).

We have no choice but to all live in the same small space, so just doing the best we can, with hand washing and hygiene.

What actually worries me more is the idiots who took their kids over the park yesterday, there were loads of comments on the local Facebook page, about just how many people were in the little play parks, not open space walk your dog type parks, I am hoping that now they have got the text they realise this applies to them as well.

I wish you well, and we are all here to talk.

Thanks for your message - I’m so glad I’ve found this forum and to talk to people who are in the same boat as me. Sending best wishes
Michelle

I really thought when it was said that 'playgrounds were closed' the councils would be taping them up. I can still well remember 60-odd years ago how very frustrating it was whenever we went en famille to the park (half hour walk) and we weren't allowed to go on the swings!

That is what I thought, but perhaps the council were not able to get around to them all yesterday, especially as some of them are not fully fenced off. No such reports or pictures today, so either they are now closed off or people have finally got the message. When my daughter face-timed me with her girls, you could hear kids in the playground outside her block of flats, there are 3 low rise blocks around a communal play area and garden, my granddaughter said other children are out playing but mummy says I can't go out there, so I just told her that she was a good girl for staying in doors and her mummy was being a good mummy for keeping her in. Daughter said she was for once glad she lived on 2nd floor, as she can have the windows open without worrying that any of the kids will come and talk to Brooke through the window.
