If you mean when to test before eating, then I wouldn't bother to retest, provided I could eat within, say an hour of the original test. That when I'm using reading to decide what insulin dose to inject, although I might test again if my eating was delayed by physical activity eg running out to garden to bring washing off line if it started raining, dealing with an emergency at a campsite or race check point etc, all of which has happened to me.
I would test again if anything had changed due to exercise, if my previous bonus had included a corection or if I was feeling hungrier then expected, otherwise I would rely on an earlier reading.
This is true for me too, although it would depend on why I was testing. If I was trying to work out the effect of a specific food on my sugar levels then I would definitely test again if it was an hour, but if it was just for looking at overall control I wouldn't bother, unless it was breakfast - often if my breakfast is delayed this causes a blood sugar rise which needs a correction dose of insulin so I would probably test again even if it was only half an hour.
