I've been researching Sucralose & found a few that say it can cause BG spikes in some diabetics. So i've just had a pint of Sainsbury's cordial & shall see what happens. Starting at 6.7 (before drink) which has shocked me, but think I might have a cold coming on.

This is interesting. I'm standing by for results.

I'm finding the heat is pushing my levels up a bit Mark.

I was thinking it could be the heat too. Well, the results are in. 30 mins after: 6.0, 60 mins after: 5.6. So no effect.🙂

Thanks MP. There's nothing like a bit of human testing. Tesco has Natvia on offer at the moment and it's good for baking...so I'll be stocking up.

Ooh wow. I'll look out for that.🙂

I like reading your food posts Mark. You seem like a real foodie and are finding ways of keeping it interesting so you don't miss out. Keep up the good work

Trudi Deakin's book, "Eat Fat" has a chapter outlining sweeteners, including whether they do or don't have a reputation for raising blood sugars. Trudi's book is succinct and to the point. She crams more, simply expressed information on one page than most can do in 10. She doesn't go into huge amounts of science, but we can all find as much of that as we want by referencing Dr Google, if we want it.

I bought it when it was published, primarily in support of Trudi being brave enough to shout out her change of view on diet et al. More longstanding members may know what I mean, but all in all, it's a great little book I quite often just dip into, if I need a quick refresher on something.

Sadly, the book isn't yet available in e-format, so it's physical paper only for now.
