Hi all. So I saw the nurse again today and she said my HbA1c level of 73 is way too high so because of problems with Metformin last week the doc has given me the SR version which I am hoping will be better. I have to take it so will have to hope.
Yesterday I had a practice day of eating really low carb etc and ended up late afternoon thinking I was having a heart attack, as my sugar levels had plummeted! The nurse explained it to me so I won't make that mistake again!
So to a test meter - I see a lot of you recommend the one from Home Health particularly as the test strips are a lot cheaper than elsewhere. I see they sell a connection cable so you can download your data onto a Windows PC. Does anyone use this and is it useful? On the order form for lancets it asks if you have a disability related to diabetes - this presumably relates to additional problems and not just the fact that you have diabetes? Also do I assume that in the early days you would test more to see what spikes your levels and as time goes on you decrease this? This diabetes lark is expensive isn't it?!! Any other recommendations for meters or is this one favoured by you all? Thanks.
