Any suggestions for a good testing kit. I was given a kit (Gluco Nexus RX) by the practice nurse 4/5 years ago and I think it is past its sell by date. I haven't had to test for a few years as I have been really well, but recently feeling under the weather and think I need to check things. I used my existing kit but noticed the strips are out of date so guess they won't be reliable.

Hello @DandiG welcome to the forum,🙂 question is did you register your meter with the company? if you did they will probably replace it with an updated meter F O C. Phone 01483 755133 https://www.glucorx.co.uk/ hope this helps?

Unfortunately No. It was loaned from the surgery and never went back!

Gussing that you'd be paying for your own test strips, consider a SD Code Free, as it has the cheapest strips (£8 for 50, no postage). (I think someone posted that there is a newer/replacement model.)
I don't know how well it matches up to other meters, I've only used the Code Free and not been in a position to do a comparison.
It's obvious where the strips go in, readings are clearly displayed. Setting up is OKish.

Hi @DandiG, most kits are reliable to the same extent so its not a question of a "good kit" the reality is in fact what you can afford to self fund the test strips for, I believe the SD GlucoNavii is the current meter cheapest to self fund xx

Oh yes, you should, so the strips would be free!

Oh, I'd missed that was you who was on gliclazide. Yes, should be getting prescription from strips from GP practice. They're likely to give you a meter too, from what I know.
As someone more likely to get hypos cause of the drugs you're on, def should have a regular testing regime.

It was on another thread about weight gain on Gliclazide.

I'd seen that one. Missed it was the same person though. Slow brain here.
