Ok not a book but a very good article I just read about testing for people with type 2 diabetes

"Introducing SMBG as part of a structured education programme for those newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes provides people with the opportunity to learn about the impact that food and physical activity have on their glycaemic control (NCCCC, 2008). SMBG also provides feedback on any changes in lifestyle and therapy that are made, helping people to understand and maintain those interventions that have had the desired effect and to review those elements that work less well (Anderson and Funnell, 2005).
