is there a hard and fast rule to when you should test yourself for your sugar levels.
 
aim to get between 4 and 7 , as your newly diagnosed they can /could be higher , things need to settle first

have noticed the last few mornings it has been around 8 ish but not any lower,i thought it would be lower as not eating while sleeping

ohh no idea chev mine on a morning is never lower then 9 , i think theres something about a morning reading the dawn effect or sumit along those lines im sure some one else can correct me x
 
I saw DSN today her advice was aim to be between 4 and 7 although 8 is not too bad Also test at least twice a day, but if you are trying new foods as many times as you feel necessary or comfotable with.
