I accidentally left my Contour test kit in the car last night. I have bought it inside and keep trying to test but keep getting an E1 error. Is this because the test kit is too cold or have I broke it?🙂

What type of meter is it? If an Abbot meter then E1=too cold, if Accuchek then E1=damaged strip 🙂

I know that if you expose you test strips in either severe heat or cold they can be affected, do you have a spare meter to test with?

Its a contour?🙂

Meter could be too cold, as well as strips.

Usually warms up enough if you put meter and strips inside your clothing for a few minutes.

And don't leave kit in your car!

Its working again now thank you so must have been the cold.

Yes -I shouldn't have left it in the car - but having driven over 600 miles in total I was so shattered I went straight in the house and plopped on my bed!:D

If you don't know where it is, it might be worth calling their customer service and asking for a replacement error code leaflet - I always have mine to hand now after wondering what on earth was wrong on a couple of occasions! 🙂

I should still have my leaflet somewhere. I'll pop off and go and find it and will post the error codes here.

Andy 🙂

E2 - Insufficient Blood Drop - Remove the used strip and try again!
E3 - Used Test strip - Can't reuse strips unfortunately.
E4 - Test strip not inserted correctly - Remove and re-insert it.
E5, E6, E8, E9, E12, E13 - Potential Software or hardware issue. Remove strip and try again. If still have issues then contact Bayer Diabetes Support.
