I had a Nexus Gluco Rx BG meter with test strips on NHS prescription. It was going a bit strange so I tried the Ascensia Next One that had been sent to me free of charge. It had a small amount of test strips included.

I was impressed with the meter and liked the bluetooth interface with my phone. It gave reminders to test, made PDF graphical reports which could be emailed to my DSN and the strips has a "second chance" system whereas if you didn't get enough blood on them then you could try again, unlike the test strips i was used to which had to be discarded in that event.

My DSN was impressed with the reports and said they were much better to digest than the hand-written booklet I had to bring for her to look at. Unfortunately she said the strips, despite having a PIP Code, are not available on the NHS (perhaps in my area, I don't know) as they cost a few pence more to the NHS than their maximum price allowed.

My question is: Does anyone have a list of BG meters that have this bluetooth interface AND have test strips available under NHS prescription.

OR perhaps just a list of strips that are available under NHS prescription so I can then look at all the meter specs that are available.

Long winded but I hope you get the gist!

Thanks in advance,

Kevin.

Welcome . Unfortunately these things are often different from area to area. It might be worth looking on your CCG website and see if they have list of meters they approve of. If not give them a ring. Another remember had an issue re test strips not the same as yours and found them helpful.
