Hi. Been a member for a long time but first post in a while! How long is it taking for Hba1c results to come back? Is it just me or are results taking much longer these days? Just interested to know as our Dr's surgery said up to 2 weeks and I'm waiting for mine!

The test result will usually be back to the GP in a couple of days, certainly is where I am but it then has to be reviewed before released onto the Patient access of whatever system the surgery uses and that can be where the delay is. But it should still not be more than a few days.

My last tests showed up on my NHS app in a couple of days.

Sorry to hear you are having to wait so long :(

I can sometimes get my results off the system the next day but certainly don't have to wait even a week. However it may depend on your surgery's circumstances and protocols They may prefer the results to be reviewed by a GP before being released onto the system or their admin may just be backlogged. I don't think it is unreasonable to wait 2 weeks especially as diabetes is a slow moving foe and you are unlikely to experience any detriment in not getting that result within 2 weeks. However I know it will be frustrating when you are itching to know the result, particularly if you have put a lot of hard work into managing your diabetes and are hoping for some positive reinforcement that what you are doing is working, but sometimes you just have to be a patient patient.
Do you have access to the NHS app and your GP practice online results?

Does it really make any difference to your life if it’s a few days or a couple of weeks? Even if your a1c is terrible and you need a change in medication, it’s unlikely to be immediately life threatening or you’d have made an appointment already based on the symptoms.

I had a blood test Wednesday lunchtime. I don't access the app. I got a message from surgery am Friday saying ferretin low and collect prescription for iron. I had to go to a class Monday but went into the surgery Tuesday and asked for copy of test results which included hba1c results. I suspect hba1c must have been available with ferretin result ie on the Friday or even day before given I got voice mail before 11. Two weeks seems a bit long. The appointment to discuss results was made for 3 weeks later but suspect that's scarcity of nurses.

Mine took 18 days which included the Easter weekend with double Bank Holidays.
This is just the HbA1c result which *they* called *me* about.

I'd still be waiting for the other results (including abnormal liver and kidney function) if I hadn't repeatedly pushed for them. Yes, my surgery is "special"...
