Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
As the first of seven children to be diagnosed Type 2, it concerns me (with increased knowledge of diabetes) that I was only diagnosed after my pancreas/body reached a stage where it needs 1500mg of metformin a day to keep non diabetic levels. (I was dropped to 1000mg by my DN after my 6 month HBa1c but I increased it after my after meal levels, did not drop as before).
In a bid to help my brothers/sisters, 3 of each!, I wondered if Impaired Glucose Tolerance, the condition that leads to insulin resistance and diabetes thereafter, could be measured using my glucose meter?
Would after meals testing of non diabetics, show a different result between those with IGT, and those without ie. normal people?
What size difference might be expected?
Or have I got my wires crossed!!!
Regards JohnCo.
