It's a Latin term, used often to describe a process spiritual people go through who tend to live their lives free from the demands of their ego, materialism, money, power, control etc.
I thought it also equally applicable to anyone who has to live with an illness. I've realised all too clearly recently that you know you better than anyone, and when something isn't right with you, you're probably right. Sometimes you have to be strong and believe in yourself, persevere until you get what you need.
