Hi Decided to make some rice from Swede, Cut the Swede in half, (length ways), cut into semi-circles, about half an inch/ 10mm, take the skin off, place about 4or5 semi-circles, (whole), into a steamer for about 20mins, check with a knife to see if cooked but firm, take one out, leave the others cooking, slice the semi-circle into thin strips with a large sharp knife, then cut the strips into rice size rectangles, the others should be easier to cut. Place the hot Swede/Rice into a bowl of cold water, drain when cooled. When your Mushroom and Cauliflower Curry is ready,
sprinkle the Swede/Rice with some lemon juice, and re-heat in a wok, add some low salt soya sauce. I like to keep the Swede/rice firm with a bit of a crunch. Got the idea from trying to cut Swede into chips for oven cooking with some parsnips. 100gram Swede 5g Carbs 24 Calories.
Swede/rice looks like Saffron Rice. Hopefully enjoy cheersclive55555

Sounds good Clive try it when I get back Full Of Beans lol It sounds easy to make

This seems very good I eat a lot of swede I wonder if it would work if the swede was grated before cooking. (I am dangerous with a sharp knife !!) I will try it out but not with tonight's roast beef !It will be roast celeriac and swede
CAROL

Hi Carol Chaotic Mmmmm grated may make it soggy, but you could grate the swede then press it together into patties and shallow fry, the idea of steaming, is to make cutting the swede. safer and easier, the hard bit is cutting the raw swede, has you must know, unless some else is given that task? Swede make great oven chips, I use mash swede instead of mash potatoes, less carbs & calories, Anyway hope you enjoyed your meal, best of luck cheers clive55555

Carol - I'd try grating it and then dry frying it, like you do to cook cauli rice.

Yes Clive I chop my own swede !! I am only 42 k but I wield a large knife !
I thought of frying it in hot oil maybe with some seasoning I will report back when I have time to experiment
CAROL

Hi Carol I don' use fats or grease, prefer lemon juice/lime juice or cordial with a little water, ginger, black pepper etc plus I rely on the heat of the Curry to heat the Swede/Rice, please be careful with your wielding,
cutting would sound safer??? Now I know your well armed, and "WIELD" I hope all goes well and you enjoy the experiment. Cheers All the Best clive55555
