Zanzibar ? THE suffering of diabetes patients in Zanzibar, including children, has been aggravated by the shortage of medicines for the treatment of the disease, it has been learnt.

Diabetes Association of Zanzibar (DAZ) Chairman Waziri Said Othman told reporters here that the shortage of the medicines, particularly insulin, experienced for almost a month now, is having an adverse impact on patients, including vulnerable children.

Mr Othman said that there was urgent need for the medicines to save the sufferers who are at a risk of developing further health complications and even worse. He urged the government to take urgent measures to acquire the medicines as soon as possible.
