Taking metform SR with or after dinner?

I've been gradually easing off glictzacides & upping metformin slow release. I now take two each evening. The label on my pills says take with or after food. I just wonder if its generally best to take the 2 tablets just before eve meal? during? or after? or if it wont make much difference?

I used to take mine during simply because of the size of the pill, i can only swallow pills when they have food around them(sorry tmi) so that was my way of doing things...I dont think it makes much diffirence just take it when it suits you best

With or after food means exactly that - not before food or on an empty stomach. Generally, it's easiest to take tablets / capsules, especially big ones, by drinking to wet the oesophagus / food pipe, then swallowing tablet / capsule, then following with more drink to wash it down. Sitting upright or standing also makes swallowing easier than lying down - unlikely, I realise since Roman styles of eating couches wetn out of fashion!
