On Saturday, wiffle ball goes from the backyard to Paul Walsh Field in New Bedford with the SLAMDiabetes Bay Sox Classic wiffle ball tournament, which will raise money to benefit families of children with Type 1 diabetes.
"We'd like to send some local kids with T1D to diabetes camp. It's very expensive, and a lot of families around here can't afford it," said Jeff Kolok, founder of SLAMDiabetes.
The day-long event is free and open to the public, and will feature numerous games of wiffle ball along with fun activities for the entire family.
