Hello,

I am a trainee Health Psychologist conducting a study to understand the impact of perceived social connectedness (how connected an individual feels to others) on diabetes related distress and self-management behaviours among individuals living with type 2 diabetes.

I would really appreciate any responses, it will take around 15-20 minutes to complete and the link below will take you to the survey (including a more detailed description of the study). Please note this study has received full ethical approval.

To take part in the study you should:

- Be a UK resident aged 18 or over

- Be able to read and write English

- Have a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes

Thank you for your help and contribution

Hi Hannah, done the questionnaire. Interesting, thanks.

Done!

Just a couple of points - the responses to whether one follows the dietary advice of GP and nurse will depend on how good that advice is. My management of blood glucose improved dramatically once I ignored NHS dietary advice!

Exercise - questions are probably written by young people who do not realise that for the old and/or infirm, exercise may be painful or just impossible.

Done - I endorse your comments. A section asking "Do you feel you get more sense from Diabetes UK than your GP/Diabetic nurse? would have generated a "Strongly agree" from me.

Done.
A couple of points as my answers may skew the results of this survey
I don’t follow nhs dietary advise as it’s too high in carbohydrate for me also low salt and low fat.
I am unable to exercise .
Due to being a carer for someone who is very ill and shielded I am avoiding as much as possible going to the docs etc .

I was going to fill it in then it asked if you have other stuff wrong with you and I have my liver so don't think I'm suitable?

I have completed it. As feedback i would say the medication options were too limited, as it gave the option of tablets, insulin or both. There are many injectable diabetes medications which are not insulin or tablets. For example I take ozempic.
