Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Latest results in were 46, l knew something was not right as l was constantly thirsty again and l just felt 'off' for a few weeks. So l am now taking 1 x 500mg Metformin again daily, the new doctor l saw said she could see why my meds were stopped but seeing as the numbers were creeping up again we would see how things went from now on. Next blood tests in 3 months.
l have no idea why my readings have gone up as lm average 5.5-7.5 usually.

Whilst she seemed very good at listening l brought up the subject of my feet, l can still walk but tend to veer off sideways and fall onto/into/over things. After a long prodding session Drop Foot was a certainty and also Charcot joint looking highly likely too.
I am also at long last being referred to a nerve specialist too!! The fact that l have little feeling in either foot from about 4 inches above the ankle to the tip of my toes is a concern and she said after the failure of a proper diabetic foot check at the usual clinic she was not sending me back there again. The fact that both ankles/feet are also stone cold and my toes being a lovely shade of purple had her worried too. Then debating which referral to make first she mentioned a 'freckle' on my little toe so l went on to show her a much bigger (and still growing one) in between my toes. Big freckle appeared last week and l had shown the nurse who took my bloods but she said it was nothing, tiny freckle appeared at the weekend. Those current referrals were then stopped and now l have an appointment at the skin cancer clinic on Wednesday. l have to go back to see the doctor on Monday as she wanted to 'do some homework' regarding where to send me first for maximum benefit.
But those freckles are now priority. So now l am to rest up as much as possible.
l feel more nervous about having the freckles removed and possible post infection than l am about finding out that l have gained yet another ailment.

Rachel...so disappointing when those charged with our care let us down...makes me angry that the nurse was dismissive about the freckle...moving forward... thankfully the new doctor seems on the ball...took time to listen...examine thoroughly and consider the best treatment for you...concentrate on that for now...thankfully you have a speedy referral for the skin cancer clinic...fingers crossed the results prove benign...and your doctor seems like a 'kick a**e' kind of GP...hang onto her...and the very best of luck...keep us updated.
