Type 2
I have been Type 2 for so long now I can hardly remember what it wss like to just eat when and whatever I wanted. No injections no finger pricks. Oh to be back there!
I would really like a chart similar to the ones produced for calories. What amount of Carbs something actually has. Yes I can read it onba label if I can see the print, or have my glasses ready! Lol. Does anyone know of a chart? Also I read of people saying, ' I had 6 carbs' what is this number ? How is it calculated?
Hope someone can help.
Thank you Jay

Hi Jay & welcome! I bought the Carbs & Cals book which gives you this info in written format & pictures of different portion sizes. It's also available as an App. You might find it very useful.

You'd have to ask each person telling you the had '6 carbs' what they meant - cos I haven't a clue. The possibilities are pretty endless!

We use 'grams of carb' in the UK generally.

Lots of members over the years have found it to be a handy ready-reckoner, especially the various portion sizes of staples when eating out. Though a set of scales and your own plates, or estimates by numbers of ‘serving spoons‘ in your house, can be helpful too 🙂

I know that certain meals are going to be within my limits - for instance, half a bag of frozen stir fry from Lidl and a couple of lamb steaks, then fruit and jelly - frozen berries, sugar free jelly, and cream or full fat Greek yoghurt.
The carb content is listed on the bags of stirfry and fruit, so it is just a patter of estimating the fraction of the bag, or weighing out an amount.
