Hi there! I am a T1 and have been for 28 years. I am currently on a AccuChek Combo pump (which as many of you are aware) and now i've been told is about to be discontinued. I have the choice of 4 x different pumps. 1) Dana-I, 2) T-Slim, 3) Omipod Dash & 4) Metdronic 780g. I am using a lot of Fiasp insulin about 300 units every other day. Which one would be best? I am also using the Libre 2. Thanks in advance as my DSN said I have to do ALL my own research and decide, fairly quickly!!! :(

Max units for Omnipod Dash is 200u, so it wouldn't last 3 days in your case I'm afraid.

Look on YouTube at other 3 pumps, some great info there & users experience.

I have no experience of any of the pumps on your list but I notice at least two can be closed loop if you have the cgm.
Will your pump change include a CGM or is it something your would self fund? This may be relevant to your decision if your want Closed loop in the next 4 years (before your next pump change after this one).

Is there anything you could try to reduce your insulin requirements - exercise / weight loss / carb intake / metformin? Or would the more concentrated insulins be something that you could use in a pump? It seems like your insulin requirements being so high at 150u per day is going to be a restriction on your choice of pump

Thanks I have lots of other health issues so not that simple I’m afraid…..I have tried Metformin several times incl. the SR type - I’m unable to tolerate it. My consultant is looking at a weekly injection that’s similar to Metformin.

I’m all honestly I don’t know ‍♀️ I need to ask that. I will not self-fund a CGM, they should be able to apply for funding?
Is a closed loop system where the CGM & pump talk to each other? Sorry for all the questions!

Yes that’s where the tow things talk to each other. Most people say once they have gone onto closed loop they never go back as it improves their lives so much.

I would love closed loop. Currently the Omnipod would be be preference in terms of pump but if another can be closed loop I will pick that over anything.

I managed to get a sample of the t-slim to see the size etc. worth looking on each pumps website for their info etc

The T-Slim can hold 300u, although the cartridges are very odd, they are rectangular and have a bag inside so I think sometimes the pump's calculation of how many units are left can go a bit adrift! Because of the weird cartridges the refill procedure is a bit fiddly compared to the Combo I think. But it's a good pump, you can run it closed loop with Dexcom sensors or as a stand-alone pump if you wish.
