Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi all, I am new to using the forum but as a T1 Diabetic - many years and counting - I think it's really good that we have somewhere where there are many of us going through very similar situations daily! It is good to share both the ups and the downs and have a community of people we can just relate to. It is sometimes hard going through day to day life with people that don't always see why these little things bother us. Nice to meet you all! 🙂

Thank you very much! How long have you had Type 2 then? Are you managing ok with it at the moment? 🙂

Hi Sandy, and welcome 🙂

I totally agree that unless you are a diabetic I think it is difficult for people to understand why certain things bother us... I've been with my husband for years and he still can't understand why I'll suddenly burst into tears at nothing when my BM is high! Whereas my brother gets really aggressive when he is hypo

xx

Welcome to the forum Sandy 🙂

Hi Vix! We're all really different aren't we. I sometimes get short tempered when I have a hypo, but generally when things are good I find it all ok to manage and to deal with. My two pet hates with my Diabetes is 1. Often being thirsty - no matter how much I seem to control things I have 4 or 5 out of 7 days when I just drink lots, perhaps more out of habit from the younger days where my control wasn't as good... 2. Infections. We seem ever so prone to catching infections! Lovely to meet you. 🙂

hi Sandy,

That's the thing that people don't seem to realise about diabetes that it's not a case of doing a injection of x amount every day will be the answer... there are soooooo many variables in everyday life not to mention our bodies that it is impossible to have a perfect solution every day! My pet hates are blood tests (for hba1c as have panic attacks every time!) and mood swings when my BMs are out! Oh, and the infections are such a pain - if I get anything that even resembles a cut then I'm in trouble 😉 Once had to go to A&E because I'd got an infection in a teeny cut on my leg and it had swollen to 3 times the size and was all red and angry and the doctor didn't believe that it had just come from a little cut... but battle on we will!

Hope to see more of you around 🙂 xx
