T1 Diabetes & Male Fertility

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone has been effected by this due to their diabetes and had trouble conceiving as a result?

It has given me erectile dysfunction personally but know it can effect men in other ways due to diabetes complications.

Well you can do something about the ED of course either 'mechanically' - ie a pump or penile implant, or alternatively Viagra/Cialis or penile injections - cos it's only a matter of getting blood to the right bit of you and getting it to stay there - but the trouble is as I understand it - it's much the same nerves that control ejaculation. Don't think that effects either desire or orgasms either - but they'll largely be dry ones.

I know this BTW having had a close friend whose appropriate nerves were badly damaged by being injured whilst at a standstill in traffic by a rear end shunt and he got lower back injuries, and being wed to a chap who's had prostate cancer removed along with some surrounding bits.

Have you been referred to an ED nurse/clinic at the hospital for specialist advice? Best for you both to attend, in order to discuss things frankly to see what is and isn't possible in your particular case.
