any good tips for getting them down, my dad gets this bad, really just around his ankles are the worse, toes a little and up to calfs not soo bad his ankles are really swollen tight chubby looking, his left leg always worse, that is your heart side, his poor circulation and heart issues won't help either.

I'm sorry I'm not qualified medically to give you advice Steevo ~ but I can suggest you get your dad to elevate his feet about 15" above hip level several times a day.

I'd also suggest you keep a close eye on his oedema (swelling) as this could indicate a number of serious health issues. ie Heart problems: Cellulitis: Retention of fluid.

Moving his ankles in circular movements in one direction ~ then repeat in the other direction when sitting up in bed or in a chair might relieve some of the tightness around his feet. Cold compresses might help too. Is there a red rash on his legs - if so is it painful?

I dont want to alarm you but I think he should be seen by his GP or take him to A&E ASAP if his symptoms dont show any sign of clearing up. I hope things improve for your dad soon, take care now.
