Hi,

Just wondering if I could ask some advice on swollen ankles. No wounds, a bit of a dry heel, yet rather swollen ankles particularly on the right foot, no swelling otherwise...

If this has been going on some time I would speak to your G P as there are many causes of swollen ankles, but things like sitting too long, standing too long, some medications, not drinking enough, high blood pressure so something you should get checked out.
Meanwhile sitting with your feet elevated and not too hot may help the discomfort in the short term.

Hi Pamela
It sounds like water retention. Are you drinking lots of water?

I'm not on the diabetes side of swollen ankles, myself... Maybe someone on here would know better but I know some people that suffer from swollen ankles suffers from water retention.

I had swollen ankles before i was diagnosed and got treatment. Since i have lost weight and got sugars under control they are back to normal. Not sure what cured them but suspect losing weight.
