Hi there,

My wife was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Would really appreciate if anyone could recommend any tips on how I can best support her?

Thank you

Welcome @Redgoldandgreen 🙂 Most of your support would be the normal pregnancy support, but, just being there to support her with her Gestational Diabetes and listen to her would be good. Is she on insulin for it? Has she been given a special diet?

Welcome to the forum @Redgoldandgreen Good to have you on here.

As @Inka has said simply being there to listen to her will be great. It can be difficult to keep to targets during pregnancy and it may be that some changes to diet will be needed, focusing on the amount of carbs that she eats and balancing this with insulin if she has been given this at this stage. I know that I have found it great that my partner has changed our meals together, rather than me eating something different.

Some people with gestational diabetes have had access to a Libre sensor, which monitors our levels constantly and helps us to gather information to make decisions about changes to diet/levels of exercise. It couod be helpful to ask about this.

Keep in touch and ask any questions that arise.
