All questions are good nickie - don't ever be afraid to ask anything, it might be something that someone else wants to know too!🙂 I looked on DUK's website for a local group, but nothing convenient for me, so this place is brilliant!:D

ask questions share the knowledge, I think I've asked the same question on hear more than once!!

I use this site and a couple of other forums. I also belong to diabetes UK which has support groups through out the country but ironically in London, not one near me.

There is a chance you might go onto medication at some point, but it may be a while yet if you're doing all the right things like a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Many people on these message boards are on medication and we all lead normal lives. We have our moans and groans and gripes on a bad day and our celebrations on a good day same as any other person.

ive only ever asked questions on here but i have felt so welcome and even when the question is silly i have always had great advice more or less right away.
Dont know if i would like to go to a support group as i still feel like a fraud and i don't have BAD diabetes...

Don't feel daft about asking seemingly silly questions. All the questions are important to someone.

And however you percieve having diabetes, never feel like a fraud because we have it for life. It is (for want of a better phrase) good or bad depending on how we handle it and our out look.

On these boards we are all friends and we all support each other.

No such thing as BAD diabetes Julie - just diabetes, plain and simple, you've either got it or you haven't! There can be bad diabetics though, who don't do their best to look after themselves - by this I don't mean people having a hard time with control, but those who deliberately ignore advice and couldn't give a fig. On here, we try to make sure everyone is a GOOD diabetic!:D

what i mean is i think ill go to the gp and he will say its just borderline and go away.
i dont know what is borderline really, maybe its just wishful thinking!

My bloods go from 6ish to 15ish, normally im about 7.8/8.0 in the morning

just had protein for lunch and they are 6.8 now. had a banana now will monitor this as i think bananas might not be great for me.

I have attended one event so far at an 18-30 diabetes support group and enjoyed it, but it is a bit of distance for me, but hope to attend more in the future

I recently found a local support group where i live & it's great, we had a specialist speaker last night that started the diabetic clinic in the hospital here years ago & is still going, he is now training peer advisers to give advise to enable us diabetics to serve society & allow us to give something back to it.
