So, as well as Type 2 diabetes, I'm also contending with perimenopause symptoms and have HRT, high dose folic acid, high dose vit D and a menopause multi vitamin (menopace). I have my first appointment with the diabetic nurse on Thursday so I can ask then but, as I'm taking the supplements at present, I thought I'd check whether anyone else would share their experiences (appreciate that this is not a forum for medical advice - just interested in blood sugars/ supplements?)

I take Vit D and an iron supplement, both on GP's recommendation. I haven't seen any changes in my BG.

I am prescribed Vit D as my Vit D levels dropped to 25% normal. Occasionally I take Vit C as it helps prevent irritation and subsequent damage to blood vessels. My team dislike Cinnamon and Ginseng as they can affect BG more so in Type Is and Type IIs on medication making dosage unpredictable.

Body building supplements count as food and not recommended for diabetics.

I have cinnamon pretty well every morning on my breakfast and I find that I am getting progressively heavier handed with the quantity because I really like the flavour. I don't seem to have any problems with my levels from it and I believe you have to have quite significant quantities to see any impact on BG and it supposedly has a slight lowering ie beneficial effect but nothing that would cause a hypo in Type 1s unless you were already sailing very close to the wind.
