There has been a 32 per cent increase in the rate of type 2 diabetes on the Sunshine Coast in the past four years.
Diabetes Queensland CEO Michelle Trute says there are now more than 1,000 people on the coast with the disease.
Ms Trute says a 32 per cent increase cannot be ignored.
She says the coast's lifestyle is a contributing factor to the spike in cases.
