Can I ask a silly question. Dont ask me how I know 🙄 but I seem to be noticing that if I eat something naughty such as a cream cake as opposed to say a jacket potato or slice of wholegrain bread, my sugars rise less with the cake than the bread and potatoes - shouldn't it be the other way around for a diabetic>

I have stayed clear of swset things as much as possible since diagnosis as I thought these were the worst things to have?🙂

The cream and fat in the cake will slow the digestion of the food, whereas potatoes and bread are chiefly carbs, so can raise blood sugar levels more quickly. 🙂 Items that are just sugary though will raise levels quickly. The downside of fat is that it contains many more calories than carbs.
