Carly woke up yesterday at 9.5 after an afternoon nap then within 20 minutes she collapsed suddenly went to 1.9 :-(
I wonder if anyone experienced this sudden drop in level? its really scared us yesterday

I've had a couple of hypos where my levels have plummeted and it is very scary - one of them was even due to my lantus, no other explanation as my novorapid had all expired and it was about an hour after injecting the lantus before bed 😱 The other one was with novorapid. The only thing I could think of was that the insulin had somehow 'pooled' and got into my bloodstream all at once, causing the rapid fall. Thankfully, just a couple of times in over 3 years so quite rare.

Hope Carly recovered quickly - when this has happened to me it has seemed a battle to get levels up.

Sounds really scary.:(

I've gone from the 6s down rapidly but not sure why. I wonder if it could have been a contaminated test the first time. ie. something on her finger maybe ?

Or as Northerner suggests, the insulin pooling in a regularly used injection site.

Hope it doesn't happen again.

Thank you I think it's more likely this one (pooled) than the fast acting ice lolly caused it because she ate some toasts before it. Carly is now good again thank you 🙂 it's happened twice now in 3 months :-( the 1st one was because of very slow acting pasta, so we inject her after pasta meals now but this one is a puzzle, maybe the hot weather??

It is possible that while sleeping all was well and as soon as she wakes up and moves around, the insulin acts quickly.

I have had similar effects when I've been really tired.

Pleased all is well.🙂
