Left my handbag on the bus tonight.
Need to wait till Friday morning to call the lost and found.

Please God it is there, cos it had my insulin and other meds, credit cards, my rail cards for the Leeds meet and my house keys.

A good friend has given me the use of their spare room tonight.

I have no meds or means to check bloods

Hazel you might want to cancel your cards like right now. If you have friends or family locally who have a car then perhaps have them sleep in the car outside your front door in case anybody tries to break in using your keys. Speak to a doctor in the morning to replace your medication and if you have no money send me a message with an address and I will sub you a couple of hundred quid if you like it and you can pay me back when you get your cards sorted. As regards train tickets if you contact the rail company and see what they suggest. Finally I hope that your bag turns up tomorrow but fear you may have lost it for good.

Thanks DL. I have told the police and they are going to check frm time to time.

Let's hope tomorrow brings better news

Fingers crossed for you Hazel.

I must say, I would cancel my cards too. If you do that your Bank (Irrespective of where your branch is) will be able to make arrangments for you to have cash from a branch.

On the upside, the very vast majority of the public are honest and upstanding.

Cards cancelled earlier - really worried about getting into my house, and when.

So sorry Hazel. What a worry. I really hope someone hands everything in.

Just seen this Hazel, I do hope that someone has handed it in, fully intact {{{HUGS}}} As mentioned, the vast majority of people are very honest.

I hope you get everything returned to you Hazel.

Thanks DL. I have told the police and they are going to check frm time to time.

Let's hope tomorrow brings better news
Fingers crossed for you Hazel...

Hope you get everything back this morning. I'm sure someone will have handed it in.

Oh no Hazel. I hope lost and found have your bag and that you'll soon be posting here saying you have everything back.
Your bank may be able to sort out some ready money for you. I have in the past called a locksmith to get me in as I'd left my keys inside, once in I had to prove my identity and pay. As DL has already said your GP can sort out more meds for you.

Oh Hazel...I wish I didn't live so far away as I might be able to help. I'm pretty good at opening locked doors. I have some suggestions which you could try before calling a locksmith...because they're mighty expensive. They will only work if you're dealing with a Yale type lock...not a dead lock.

1. Get a strong helper to boot the lock really hard with the sole of their shoe or hit it with all their might...the door will often pop open without damaging the lock or frame.

2. Get a big empty plastic bottle (the big coke bottles work well), using scissors cut a tubular section out of the middle...about 3 inches works well. Now cut this tube vertically and open it up. Push one of the flat side edges into the crack by the lock with the curved bit facing inwards. Wiggle it quite forcefully while pushing it in. If you can get the edge under the sneck the door will open with a push.

3. Borrow keys from your neighbours and try them. Where I grew up there were only 12 different keys on the estate...mad but true. It didn't take long before we worked out which were which...imagine the mischief!

Hope this helps and that everything is resolved quickly. I'll be thinking of you.

It's possible that your house insurance will cover you if you need to get a locksmith to get you in, so worth checking.

Any news Hazel?

Oh I feel for you Hazel. I once had my handbag nicked and it's a major hassle! Hope you get some good news soon.

Bus company just phoned - bag handed in, intact!!!!!!

Off now to collect it

Thank God - also my thanks to everyone for your kind wishes xxx

Thats great news Hazel. Respect for human beings is restored! There are still some decent folk's out there. X
