Went to the optician this morning and the pressure in thr right eye is 24 despite treatment. This not good. Feeling fed up:(

Thank you Alan - I had spent the weekend feeling so positive. Now I'm absolutely dreading the appointment with the glaucoma specialist on May
30th as this is the same eye in which I was told in November that the optic nerve damage had worsened. Hugs are good

((((hugs)))) Amanda, sending lots of hugs!! :( Did he say if anything needed doing promptly, or has your eye specialist given you limits to go by? Thinking of you...stupid pesky eyes...more hugs coming your way!! Xxx

Could it have been affected by that funny turn you had?

Ohh I'm so sorry to hear this, hope it's nothing too serious or can be treated better this time.

Big hugs!! xxxx

Thanks Alison and Twitchy. Thanks for asking Alison but the optician couldn't see any problems with the eye caused by the funny turn, thank goodness. Twitchy when I saw one of the "general" eye doctors at the hospital in November i.e. not the main specialist she said that the scan had shown that I would probably need to have further treatment because the optic nerve damage in my right eye was worse than 12 months before - but that they would repeat the scan in May just in case the November scan was wrong. However in November the pressure in my right eye was still within normal limits.....and now it isn't so could be causing even more damage to the optic nerve. In May I am definitely down to see the specalist - but she told me 30 months ago that if they go on to the next stage of treatment it could be, at best case scenario, lasering holes round the circumference of my eye (SLT) - but if that wasn't suitable surgery that could lead to further loss of sight - she showed me a diagram for the four stages of treatment - the first failed and the second I had two years ago. Sorry for such a long post

Sorry I meant to add "normal" eye pressure is around 10 - treatment usually starts when it reaches 22 and according to Boots today it was 21 in my left eye and 24 in my right eye. I'm on drops twice a day and have already had a hole lasered in each of my eyes (iridotomy) and the cataracts removed to help reduce the pressure.....hence why next the treatment starts getting scary. Ironically my retinoapthy is mild!!! But what's particularly scary is that the macula is damaged in my left eye so I'm really reliant on my right eye.

Thank you Sophiaa xx

BIG HUG for the lovely lady 🙂

Thank you Laura. The hugs on here really are helping. I love the people on this forum🙂

Awww Amanda, so sorry to hear this news. Fingers crossed for a better prognosis.

Thank you Patti🙂

Amanda, I can't say what springs to mind because most of it is expletives...:( sounds like you've been having a hell of a time with the eyes! Hoping & praying that things somehow take a dramatic turn for the better before your next apointment, so you don't have to have any more horrible treatment! :( Big, big hugs to you - your courage in how you deal with all this is inspirational. Injope Susie is looking after you, lots of cuddles sound in order... Xxx

Hi Amanda, just got home and catching up on the day. So sorry to hear your news, I do hope the next round of treatment has a positive effect. ((((HUGS))))

Thank you Twitchy and LeeLee I've woken up this morning determined not to let it get me down xx

Thanks Karen. I've cheered myself by indulging in some online retail therapy🙂 I hope that today is a good day for you as well xx

Retail therapy sounds good to me :D I'm thinking of making some cards later so might get myself organised and do that - hmm get organised - that's not easy!🙄

Agree about the getting organised not being easy - I'm still in my sleep wear sitting at the computer when I should be tidying up the kitchen etc:D
